Pokerstars Review
Pokerstars is the biggest online poker site and it’s “pure dead quality man!”. Read below to find out why.
1) Software
Pokerstars’ software is right up there with Full Tilt’s. It is one of the best sites you can multitable on, especially if you have an old computer. I was able to run 12+ tables on my old dinosaur of a computer and not notice any slowdown whatsoever. The windows are full resizable and you can change the table and cards’ theme to suit your tastes. My particular favourite is one in which the card denominations are bold and simple, much like my former boss.
2) Traffic and game selection
Pokerstars, or Jokerstars as it is fondly known by, is the Grand Daddy when it comes to number and choice of games. Whether your favourite game is Omaha, Stud or Hold ‘em, there will plenty of tables for you to use and abuse, whatever the time of day. Basically if you can’t find your favourite form of poker on Pokerstars, then its unlikely you will find it on any on online site. Pokerstars is also host to the World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP), where life changing amounts of money can be won in a single tournament. At peak times, Pokerstars boasts over 150,000 players!
3) Sign-up bonus
If you sign up through my link you can get 100% of your deposit matched up to $50. Now I admit, this is not the most generous of sign-up bonuses, however, you can earn the bonus very quickly, even at micro-stakes. Furthermore, you can trade in the player points you accumulate for tournament entries and a whole host of stuff in the Pokerstars shop; I am already the proud member of three very cool sweatshirts. If you are a high stakes player, or even just a low stakes high volume player, then you can accumulate enough monthly points to purchase reward bonuses from the store, also.
4) Level of competition
Pokerstars is endorsed by several top professional players such as Daniel Negraneu and Greg “Fossilman” Raymer. Although there are still far more donkeys and fish than good players, the level of competition on Pokerstars is definitely above average. Sometimes this can be a good thing, as decent players generally can be more predictable than your beginner fish. Having said all this, the micro-stake levels at Pokerstars are pretty similar to any other site, and as long as you aren’t a complete muppet easy money awaits you.
5) Customer service
Customer service is first class at Pokerstars. All queries I’ve had have been answered the day I sent them, and I was given an extra sweatshirt when the first one was delayed due to a cognitively retarded postman.
6) Deposit and withdrawal options
Pretty much everything and anything here; you have your standard online money transfer sites such as Moneybookers and Neteller in addition to credit and debit cards. I personally used my debit card and was able to deposit and withdraw seamlessly.
To sum-up, there are very good reasons Pokerstars is the biggest online poker site in the universe – quality software, humungous player database, and unrivalled customer service.
