I hate poker!

Posted under Blog on April 10

After having had a terrible sleep last night due to delinquents living above my bedroom, I just experienced one of the worst 30 min poker stretches of my life. Playing full ring poker on Everest, I simply got defecated on by the poker gods.

One of my first hands I pick up AA on the button with a lot of limpers. I raise to pot, and lost most of my stack when a donkey flops quads and plays the hand weird.

Next up, limp 77 and call a raise from a tight player in the blinds. Bingo! Flop middle set. Money in on the turn - of course he has top set!

This time I flop a set with 66 in an unraised pot. But of course Mr Fish Biscuit has flopped top set with his limped JJ.

The last hand that broke the camel’s back and made me call it a premature day was when I raise on the button to steal blinds. CBET half pot and get raised all in by a short stack in the blinds. I call with my flush draw and overcards but of course he has AA, with the ace of the suit!

Full ring can be a brutal grind with you steadily picking up small pots and blinds. Then somedays you can lose several buy-ins in a space of a few minutes through no fault of your own. Sadly, today was one of those days…… I reckon it’s time to go back to sit and gos or Omaha for a while. Full ring no limit poker can be so boring and demoralising.

  1. Playing Micro-limit pot-limit Omaha at the moment and getting beaten by hands when i really should have protected my hands more. I will learn eventually.

  3. Cool blog! Have you watched any of the WSOPE on TV? Jason Mercier pulled some sick all in river bluff bets!

  4. 30 minutes of a bad run and your whining.
    You are useless.

I have been playing ring games online for quite a while more than 30 minutes. I track my hands. In the last 1000 all-in plays where I had the best hand I have been beat 973 times.

After 7 months of playing ring games I am exactly 22 cents up.

Don’t whine to me about 30 minutes of bad luck!
