A change of scenery

Posted under Blog on April 20

Much of being an online poker pro is boring and monotonous; sign in to your poker client and click, click, click away. Like a rat pushing a bar to get a food pellet, we click, click, click away.  The hours tick by and if we are running well our stacks continue to climb. Sure it can be a grind sometimes, but it is a grind on our OWN terms; we don’t have an ogre boss, nor do we have to get up early at the same time every day. Also, we can work when we want to work.

Anyway, before I drift further off on a tangent, I spent the weekend cat sitting at my parents’ house. I grew up in a small village, and I had forgotten how peaceful and picturesque it can be, particularly at this time of the year when flowers are coming into bloom and rabbits are dancing across the fields. Although I spent much of the weekend click, click, clicking away, even being in a new environment was refreshing. Also, when I did take a break from grinding, I could relax in the garden and indulge in the simple delights of nature in Spring.

So to finish this post before it errs on being gay, the moral of the story of is this; sometimes a change of scenery will help you appreciate your surroundings and enjoy the world outside of poker. This can only have a positive, refreshing effect on your psyche. And as well all know, a healthy mind is key to making good poker decisions.
